Dean’s message

Dear students, prospective students, partners, and friends of the Faculty of Economic Sciences,

I warmly welcome you and thank you for your interest in the Faculty of Economic Sciences of Moldova State University.

It is an honour to lead a faculty with a history spanning more than 70 years, founded in 1953 as part of Moldova State University. At the same time, it is a responsibility that I regard as a commitment to every student, member of the academic staff, researcher and partner within our academic community.

I believe in an economic education that combines a strong academic tradition with openness to change and the responsibility to anticipate societal transformations. This conviction forms the foundation of my vision for the development of the Faculty of Economic Sciences.

Education aligned with the realities of the labour market. We educate specialists who not only understand the economy but are also prepared to work and succeed within it. For this reason, we continue to strengthen our links with the business community through relevant internships, partnerships with organisations and companies and study programmes that are regularly updated in consultation with employers. We want every student who enters our faculty to graduate not only with a diploma, but also with confidence, practical competencies, and the ability to make informed decisions in a constantly changing economy.

A faculty with an international outlook. Openness to the world is part of our identity and, at the same time, one of the directions we intend to develop further. The double degree programmes implemented in partnership with Ștefan cel Mare University of Suceava at both Bachelor’s and Master’s levels, opportunities for joint doctoral supervision, academic mobility programmes, and the international ACCA accreditation of the Accounting programme reflect our commitment to internationally recognised academic standards and to expanding the opportunities available to our students.

Innovation and adaptation to the economy of the future. The economy is changing, and education must remain one step ahead. We aim to develop students’ digital competencies, entrepreneurial mindset, and capacity for innovation by continuously modernising our study programmes and teaching methods. Artificial intelligence, data analysis, digital transformation and the transition towards a sustainable economy are already reshaping today’s professions and creating new fields of activity. Our mission is to educate professionals who are able not only to adapt to these changes, but also to contribute to shaping them.

Research and academic excellence. A strong university faculty is also defined by the knowledge it creates. We support research with tangible impact, the development of the Doctoral School, participation in national and international projects, and the promotion of scientific rigour. For us, research is not an isolated objective, but the foundation of high-quality university education and a meaningful contribution to economic and social development.

The 6 Bachelor’s programmes and 11 Master’s programmes, nationally accredited by ANACEC, provide students with the opportunity to build their own academic and professional pathways across a wide range of fields within the economic sciences. Beyond programmes and specialisations, however, we seek to create a university environment that fosters critical thinking, integrity, initiative, and responsibility—values that are essential for educating the professionals and leaders society needs.

I look towards the future of the Faculty of Economic Sciences with confidence and with the firm belief that the sustainable development of an academic institution is built through people, ideas, and the ability to work together.

I invite you to become part of our academic community and to contribute, alongside us, to its continued development.

Together – academic staff, students, researchers, graduates, and partners – we are building a faculty where tradition supports progress and education opens up opportunities for the future.

Yours sincerely,
Adriana BUZDUGAN
